Powerful story in Sunday’s New York Times about one service dog’s success reaching a seriously disconnected and raging child with Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). The piece is a reminder of the challenges of hidden disabilities in foreign adoptions (and U.S.), the devastating effects of the deadly mix of alcohol and pregnancy worldwide, one mom’s determination to reach her son, and the unwavering spirit of canines who love and perform unconditionally.
Makes me even prouder of the work that my dog, Jack , and many other remarkable service/therapy animals, do each day. Jack gives the piece two paws up. Me, too.
