I’ve got a trip to NYC finally on the 2023 travel agenda, and I think I’ve found the perfect city gear to feature for this week’s Sassy Fashionista.

Black jeans. Black muscle tee. Black belt, and favorite big-buckle, black Birkies from my closet. Forever on repeat.

It’s simple and citified. With an edgy, cool factor that fits well with the writer/creative that I am. It will also work well with other pieces like a sweatshirt, oversized blazer or silky blouse, or with kitten heels or jazzed athletic footwear. Black goes with everything, after all. As do these simple pieces.

With this outfit as a base, I will only need a few other pieces for the trip, which helps me meet my recent travel mandate of traveling with carry on luggage only.

Travel game-changer. In all the best ways.

I scored these jeans with their frayed bottoms, the slightly fitted and oh, so comfy muscle tee, and the cool Brooklyn baseball hat during a recent weekend visit to Anthropologie. They are currently all still available online.

At $38, the black belt from Free People was an especially good find. Usually, their belts are much more expensive. I liked this one with its adjustable design so much, that I immediately ordered one in another color.

Past experience tells me they will likely sell out.

This long-awaited trip back to a city I adore, will be a combination of fun and business, including a trip to a Brooklyn studio to check in on post-production on our upcoming documentary, Camp RicStar.

Perfect outfit for checking out the Michael Jackson musical, too.

More on that excitement later.

When I saw the hat, I knew I had to have it. Only one in the store. Creative kismet.

This sassy outfit will fit my city vibe perfectly.

Make me feel just a little sassier, too.

Watch out, New York, New York!!

How about you? Are you a fan of an outfit that is in all one-color palate?
