Hubby and I recently took a long weekend to enjoy all the cool holiday things happening in the Motor City. A sweet trip that included attending Tina: The Musical at the historic Detroit Opera House, Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas Concert at the famed Fox Theater, and the Van Gogh in America Exhibit at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA).

It was a jammed packed, whirlwind of a trip that helped feed my serious longing for a post-Covid, big-city fix. One of my favorite things was talking with several native Detroiters that shared what’s it’s been like to witness Detroit’s rebirth firsthand.

Like many in the Midwest, Detroiters are a friendly, honest bunch keeping it real.

We will go back for more Motor-City Magic soon.

I may share more photos from that trip after the first of the year, along with a post about a long-overdue upcoming journey to L.A. But for now, here are a few photos from our terrific time in Detroit. Truly good things have been happening there.

Remember to say nice things about Detroit, people, and go experience the magic for yourself. It’s worth the trip.

Is Detroit on your 2023 travel list?

It should be.
