They’re here already.

Yearly Garden Mums, and Garden Moments posts soon to be devoted to them.

I saw my first mums at the local supermarket two days ago.

Kind of startled me. Their appearance seems earlier than usual.

It’s been such a strange summer.

It was late getting here after a lousy spring.

High humidity and wildfire smoke made outdoor living and gardening hard for people, animals, birds, and gardens.

It was not a good summer to be a first-time gardener in many places.

Now, here come the mums.

The annual promise of beautiful fall days to come?

Maybe.

But more likely it’s the annual ritual to switch up all those tired and bedraggled plants giving way early to fall. Waving their little white flag of surrender.

Get ready for final summer garden clean-up shots, and some shiny new mum images.

It just feels like summer didn’t have much of a chance this year.

I didn’t buy any of the mums.

Yet.

But I will. Soon.

Not quite ready to let go of summertime and admit seasonal defeat,

How about you?
